About the Cooperative

The Cooperative COOOPERINA was founded in 1990 on the initiative of the parish priest of the province who was concerned about the low prices received by the coffee farmers from the merchants. He gathered a group of producers and founded with them the first farmers’ association in the region, PERINA. In the first years it exports its coffee through the cooperative COCAFEL, but since 1998 the important step of exporting directly was taken. It remained an association until 2008, when it became a cooperative.

It currently has more than 500 members and partners which are located throughout the province. Both at local and regional level, it has the recognition that it has been the institution that has had the greatest impact on the economic and social development of the province, a recognition that we seek to continue to maintain and increase.
